Blackburn goalkeeper Brad Friedel thinks MK Dons boss Paul Ince would be a very good appointment as the club's new manager. The American stopper was once a team-mate of Ince - who looks on course to succeed Mark Hughes at Ewood Park.
Friedel admits Ince is the ideal candidate for Rovers and insists his lack of top-flight managerial experience is not an issue.
"People were saying that about Mark Hughes," he said.
"I know he had four or five years with Wales, but I don't think when you have the wining mentality, when you have players coming from the highest level and when they are students of the game like this I don't think it is a problem at all.
"I played with him at Liverpool, Iccey as a footballer was a winner and he has obviously proven as a manager he is a winner," he continued.
"He knows football and loves football which I think is why he has the success he has had."
Friedel admits he does not know much about the other candidates for the job.
"I only know Sam Allardyce and Steve McLaren though playing against them and seeing them out the odd time, but both seem like good guys too - I am not sure who the candidates are, I spoke with John Williams [Blackburn chairman] and he assured me they are going to make the appointment quite soon."
He admitted he was sorry to see Hughes leave, but understands it was hard for Blackburn to keep him.
"He is an ambitious man and when a job came up his name came up and he was linked strongly and I think there was a reason for that, I think word got around he was very good at his job," he said.
"When you are at a club like Blackburn it will be financially hard to keep hold of ambitious people.
"I haven't spoken to him but I am sure he did it for ambitious reasons."
