Kellock Tip Sarries For Glory

Glasgow captain Ally Kellock admitted his side only had themselves to blame after being bundled out of the Heineken Cup as Saracens won 21-17 at Firhill.

But Kellock admitted his side had been beaten by a top team and reckons the English side could go on and become European champions for the first time.

The Warriors needed a convincing win to keep alive their quest to reach the Heineken Cup quarter-finals for the first time.

But they could not find an answer to the pace, power and guile of the English visitors when it mattered most.

Richard Haughton and Glen Jackson crossed for Sarries, with the latter adding a conversion and three penalties.

Glasgow's points came from a Bernardo Stortoni touchdown and four Dan Parks penalties.

"The biggest frustration for us is that we handed Saracens their two tries - and that was the difference," said Kellock.

"In terms of effort and application, I could not have asked for any more from my guys.

"But we let ourselves down when it came to making mistakes and executing certain decisions.

"Considering what we have put into the campaign physically and mentally, it is hugely disappointing to be eliminated like this.

"Good luck to Saracens. I believe they are good enough to compete for the title because they have improved tremendously over the past few months."

Saracens skipper Neil De Kock admitted he was delighted and relieved in equal measure after the final whistle.

The South African scrum-half said: "The result was a huge weight off our shoulders. The quarter-finals were always our aim for the season - and now we can think about going even further because we have a home tie.

"If we had been offered that at the start of the campaign, we would certainly have taken it.

"We knew Glasgow would make it very hard for us as they had done every time we played them in recent times."
