Eurosport - Fri, 18 Jul 11:53:00 2008
Home favourite Juergen Melzer booked his place in the quarter-finals of the Austrian Open with a 6-4 6-2 win over Argentina's Leonardo Mayer in Kitzbuhel.
It was the only result of the day at the ATP Tour event, with the rest of the scheduled matches falling victim to inclement weather.
After a lengthy rain delay, sixth seed Melzer emerged to convert three of four break points on his way to a comfortable victory.
The 27-year-old from Vienna will be making his second quarter-final appearance at Kitzbuhel and will play either second seed Rainer Schuettler of Germany or the Czech Republic's Jan Herynch.
British pairing Jamie Murray and Jamie Delgado's second round doubles match against second seeds Melzer and Robert Lindstedt was postponed due to the rain.

i am in kitzbuehel at the moment watching some of the matches and strangely enough in the doubles they play two sets and if they are tied at one a piece the third set is composed of a tie break. i couldnt believe it watching it, i have never seen the best of three sets decided on a tie break in the third set without playing a full set. strange things happening here in kitzbuehel. by the way they play a regular tie break up to seven not ten, because thats the way hanescu and partner beat horna and starace 2 days ago in doubles.
No problem with the Jamies result. They obviously play a 1st to 10 tie break if it is 1 set all
yes lol 10-6 that is what the ATP website is showing something is wrong somewhere
They won '6-7 (7) 7-5 10-6'
Correct me if I'm wrong but this seems a little strange?
