France won the women's individual recurve title at the European archery championships for the first time when Berengere Schuh took the gold medal.

Schuh recovered from a poor start to beat Britain's Naomi Folkard in the final 104-99. Pia Carmen Lionetti of Italy took the bronze.

Poland won the women's team competition, beating Germany 218-199 in the final while Italy won the men's team recurve gold by beating France 226-221.

Russia's Balzhini Tsyrempilov of Russia beat Ukraine's Markiyan Ivashko 112-106 to win the men's individual title.

The championships in Vittel, France, also functioned as a qualifier for the Beijing Olympics in August. South Korea won three of the four archery golds in Athens four years ago.
