New Zealand rugby officials have called for new nominations for the job of coaching the All Blacks following the team's failure at this year's World Cup.
The NZRU rejected a proposal to reappoint the current coaching team of Graham Henry (pictured), Steve Hansen and Wayne Smith after the All Blacks were knocked out in the quarter-finals, saying it wanted to look at new candidates.
NZRU chairman Mike Eagle said the board was happy with the Henry's performance during his four years in charge and that he could re-apply for the job.
"There is no doubt that all involved in New Zealand rugby are disappointed with the outcome of Rugby World Cup 2007," Eagle said.
"That said, we also want to recognise and acknowledge the significant achievements of this coaching panel and the team - on and off the field - over the last four years."
New Zealand won 42 of 48 matches under Henry's guidance, winning the Tri-Nations title in 2005, 2006 and 2007, completing a series whitewash against the British and Irish Lions and a grand slam of victories over England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
They went into this year's World Cup in France as overwhelming favourites to win the Webb Ellis Cup but lost in the quarter-finals, beaten by the hosts France.
Eagle said applications for the coaching job would close on November 26 with a decision expected to be made before Christmas.
Henry said he was still undecided about whether to reapply.
"As a group of coaches, we are very proud of the team's achievements in that time, but of course are very disappointed in the World Cup result," Henry said.
"We all want what is best for New Zealand rugby and understand the board's decision to ask for applications. All three of us will take time to think about the next steps and we'll have a decision on the 26th."
Canterbury Crusaders coach Robbie Deans has already confirmed that he would be interested in taking charge of the All Blacks.
