The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed shooting guard Daniel Gibson to a multi-year contract, general manager Danny Ferry said.
Terms of the deal were not announced but the Cleveland Plain Dealer, citing sources, said the length of the contract was five years.
"He has worked to grow as a player and we love his passion for winning," Ferry said.
Gibson, 22, averaged 10.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 58 games with the Cavaliers during the 2007-08 season. Over his NBA career, he averages 7.5 points a game.
Since entering the NBA in 2006-07, the six-foot-two Gibson ranks sixth overall in three-point percentage at .434. Cleveland was 45-37 last season and signing Gibson, a restricted free agent, was seen as a top priority.
Gibson suffered a dislocated shoulder in the Eastern Conference semi-finals against the Boston Celtics and recently had arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle, but is expected to be ready for training camp.
