Dwyer On The Sidelines

Fri 16 May, 03:09 PM

Martin Dwyer is likely to be out of action for around a fortnight following a fall on the gallops on Friday morning.

The Derby-winning jockey was riding out for Marcus Tregoning in Lambourn when he was unshipped from his mount and went over badly on his ankle.

No bones have been broken but there is ligament damage, according to Dwyer's agent, Gareth Owen.

"I've not spoken to him for a couple of hours, but he had a fall at Marcus Tregoning's this morning and injured his ankle," said Owen.

"He went for an X-ray and thankfully nothing is broken, but there is some ligament damage.

"Obviously it is badly swollen so we can't tell exactly how much damage has been done yet.

"Realistically he is looking at two weeks out, it might not be that long and when the swelling goes we will know more.

"He is going back to the hospital a week today.

"It's a bit of a sickener because he had some good rides this weekend."
