Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Simpson has confirmed that Stoke City have been added to their list of pre-season friendlies. The Potters will follow West Brom in visiting the New Meadow on August 2 in preparation for next season, while the Shrews also have fixtures with non-League outfits Market Drayton and Stafford Rangers lined up.
Simpson told the club's official website: "I'm delighted with the way pre-season is panning out and the games we've got arranged.
"We go to Stafford Rangers to meet up with (manager) Steve Bull who I used to play with at Wolves and that will be a good game to look forward to.
"We then have the Shropshire Senior Cup against Market Drayton then hopefully a second game if we qualify for the final, if we don't then I will need to look at putting another game in that week.
"Then we have West Brom and now we finish with a game against Stoke City, two newly-promoted sides to the Premier League. Two sides who are local and hopefully these are games which will appeal to our fans."
