Six Nations - Azzurri unchanged for Scots

Italy coach Nick Mallett has named an unchanged team for their final Six Nations match at home to Scotland on Saturday, keeping faith with out-of-form centre Gonzalo Canale.

Italy have lost all four of their matches so far this season and need to win by five points or more to move ahead of the Scots and avoid the wooden spoon.

Canale (pictured) dropped important passes in the 25-13 defeat by France last weekend and the 47-8 reverse against Wales last month.

"I'm not a coach who makes changes if a player has a bad match," Mallett told a news conference on Wednesday.

"Canale has a level which is better than he has shown up to now and to change him now would not be good for the team or Canale or the youngster I would put in his place."

Scotland, who beat England 15-9 last Saturday, defeated Italy 18-16 in last year's World Cup to snatch Pool C qualification from the Azzurri.

Mallett, who took charge after the World Cup, said revenge was not an issue.

"I'm not looking for payback. It is the first time I'm playing against them and I'm looking forward to the game," he said.

"I'm very impressed with (Scotland's) spirit and organisation. They had a good win over England, it won't be an easy game for Italy and we won't underestimate Scotland."
