World Cup winning coach Jake White has accepted a role outside of rugby, the South Africa Sunday Times has reported.

According to the newspaper, the former Springboks coach (pictured) is about to be made head of marketing for Johannesburg telecommunications company Richmark Holdings.

"He knows what makes people tick, he's sharp, a great talker.....he's the most popular guy in SA right now," said Richmark Group chief executive Gavin Varejes.

"You look under 'self-respect' in the dictionary and you see the name Jake White."

Varejes, a lifelong sports enthusiast who boasts a huge collection of Springboks memorabilia, brokered the deal and also hopes that White will not be entirely lost to South African rugby.

"That would have been terrible. He would have lost the heart of every South African," Varejes told the Sunday Times.

White had a difficult time at the helm of the world champions, where his position was often under-mined by the controversial quota system.

When White did not re-apply for his position after the Springboks' triumph in France, South Africa rugby officials announced that he had withdrawn from the running.

He has been associated with a variety of coaching roles within the sport, including the England and Australia jobs.
