Du Plessis Cited

South Africa's 30-28 victory over New Zealand could come at a cost after hooker Bismarck du Plessis was cited.

The Springboks chalked up their first victory at Carisbrook and ended their decade-long winless streak on New Zealand soil with an impressive performance that was capped off by some individual brilliance from scrum-half Ricky Januarie in the closing stages of the game.

But Du Plessis' citing for "alleged contact with the eyes or eye area" of All Blacks flanker Adam Thomson in the 11th minute of the match in Dunedin means coach Peter de Villiers could be forced to call up his second replacement hooker in as many weeks.

Last week Schalk Brits was summonsed to Wellington to replace regular captain and hooker John Smit after he suffered a groin injury during the opening Tri-Nations match in Wellington.

And depending on the outcome of Sunday's SANZAR judicial hearing at the Otago Rugby Union offices, De Villiers could again be calling for more back-up in time for the world champions' clash with Australia in Perth next weekend.
