Liverpool are obviously going to sign Gareth Barry eventually, and hope that a £14m bid will pry him out of Aston Villa's hands.
TT suspects Villa will spit in their faces. If Michael Carrick can fetch £18m, surely Barry is worth closer to £30m? Yet Rafa Benitez still thinks he can get his man for around one-and-a-half Mohamed Sissokos.
Martin O'Neill has been taking time out from exchanging quips with Alan Hansen to talk to Barry, who says he wants Champions League football and he wants it now.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have told reserve goalkeeper Charles Itandje he can join Fulham for a nominal fee. How much Fulham know about this is not clear.
Tottenham came in for a bit of a shoeing yesterday, with Samuel Eto'o describing them as a "mid-table club" and Carlos Vela saying his Mexican compatriot Giovani dos Santos is too good for Spurs.
Pascal Chimbonda has always thought he was a cut above the rest of his muckers at White Hart Lane, and has linked himself with a £2 million move to anywhere, really. Aston Villa, Rangers and Fulham are the most likely destinations.
It says here that Arsenal want to double the average age of their squad with the £4m capture of 31-year-old Werder Bremen man Torsten Frings.
That famous Belarussian sense of humour, eh? Here's Alex Hleb 's agent Nikolai Shpilevski: "The only transfer Alexander is making at the moment is from the hotel to the beach and back."
It has emerged that Aaron Ramsey's decision to join Arsenal , not Manchester United, was motivated not by the latter's desire to loan him out, but by Alex Ferguson's failure to return from holiday to meet Ramsey last Friday.
Chelsea could be in for a shock when they come back off their holidays and find Khalid Boulahrouz skulking around the dressing room. Marseille can save both parties an awkward reunion if they stump up the requisite funds.
Speaking of rubbish defenders, David Rozehnal's reign of terror at St James's Park is officially over. Lazio have somehow seen fit to shell out £2.9m for him.
Kanu's unique brand of sublime skills and missed open goals will be on display at Portsmouth next season, with the Nigerian describing his new contract as "a done deal".
Ronaldo update: Fergie has been chatting with the Manchester United board, presumably from the comfort of his sun lounger, and has told them that they can shut up Cristiano 'I don't want to talk about it but I'd love to go to Madrid' Ronaldo by stuffing £150,000 in his mouth every week.
As soon as Transfer Talk heard about this one, it knew it had a 'bottom of the article' rumour par excellence: Bolton want Birmingham's Fabrice Muamba.

David Villa could be what liverpool need to win the league next season. He will be a good pear for Torres and with Torres and Villa any defense will find it hard to contain them. if liv'pool can get villa for us, we will be contented.

@Ruskyuk - Sorry, but your talking rollocks. We don't need a new stadium, Villa Park is fine for us. Besides, what's the point with a huge stadium when the team isn't up to it!?
He's flashed his cash since he took over and has backed MON to get whatever he wants, so he is spending his money, MON is just too canny to pay over the odd prices simply because selling clubs inflate their prices because they know Villa are loaded.
I can only presume you aren't a villa fan as you appear to know absolutely naff all about Lerner.
Barry may end up at Liverpool, but MON knows he's in the power position and can really name his price. My suspicion is that it could go up to £20m plus Carson and Crouch. Is Barry worth that? Well, yes if Rafa is prepared to pay it! If not, well, Barry has 2 years on his contract and will be staying at Villa.
We don't need to sell him, we don't need the money (unlike Liverpool who are so skint, the owners have claimed 1.4m in expenses!)
Oh by the way David, if you're such a fan why can't you spell your billionaire owners name right!!!!!
To David the Villa fan, Randy Lerner may be a billionaire but he doesn't want to spend any money on the club, Villa only spend what their revenue allows, no big buys, no new stadium or stadium expansion. He's a buisness man and while the premiership is such a cash cow,he's sitting on his investment.Barry will go to Liverpool in a deal that will keep Carson at your place and give O'neil some extra spends, but Mr Lerner won't be topping up the funds to try and get you in the top 4!
up the pool barry 30 million get a life
Better way to shut Ronaldo up is to stuff him on the subs bench for a couple of months.
Barry IS leaving Villa for Liverpool. 15 million is too much to decline...
This comment is about England, I dont want to be critical about my national side I do just feel that we the english public do belive we are better than we are, im not saying we are rubbish but we are no Brazil either we are a average side with a couple of good players. I think all us armchair wannabe managers wouldnt select hardly anyone different to be called up to the national side maybe toggle the formations from time to time. We should of been good enough to qualify for the euros and Mclaren getting sacked was the right move it just didnt work out for him. I do feel that employing an italian to manage the side isnt a good idea, not being racist but why did capello take the job purely for the money, if England play Italy in the future who deep down in his heart of hearts would he want to win. There was a couple of English managers they could of asked that would throw passion into it, ok they might be big names but what have we got to lose really.
My topic of conversation is Ronaldo, I am a united fan and dont want to see him leave but I see this bid by Madrid as a good thing if he stays we will all know he has stayed because he wants to play his football at old trafford and maybe money is'nt be all and end all. And if he goes we will get good money towards the club so Fergie can weave his magic and buy someone for a couple of million and turn out to be better than Ronaldo and hopefully put the rest of the money into developing youth players for the future. Remember one man doesnt make a team. Good luck Ronaldo whatever you decide to do its been a pleasure to see you play in a united shirt.
if people keep turning down spurs we will stay mid table
yea all liverpool fans can dream on to have david villa, because your club only want to pay cheap for a good services around the globe.look at rafas keen on gareth barry that quality of player should cost around 18mil pounds ++...& again he only willing to pay round 12mil...what about if madrid or chelsea want the services of stevie G?I dont think liverpool would let him go by paying under 25mil isn't it?so keep on dreaming alright?ahahaha what a pity~
yer ! im a liverpool fan aswell !
villa or silver would be good , also quaresma would be a good signing !

Yes Aston Villa have so much money that they have bought top players like Reo Coker & Harewood not even good enough for West Ham so shut yer mouths you dumb *****.
The purpose of winning trophies (on the pitch) for clubs is to fetch the clubs monies. This money can also be fetched off the pitch - but good market strategies. This is very importnt to Arsenal. Arsenal is proofing to numerous clubs all over the world that the sustainability of a football club does not rely on only winning trophies (on the pitch of play), but alternatively, it can happen more off the pitch. Even though Arsenal have not won any trophy 4 years now, they are making good headway marketwide. So people saying good players (Ramsey for example) should not come to Arsenal for their inabiligy to win something, should better have a rethink. Second, Arsenal is a club everybody knows give opportunity to younger players to develop their talents. So in this sense, Ramsey has made a better choice. Wenger will not loan him out as Alex has chosen to, rather the Prof. will give him first-team opportunity to start off.
