Sailor Agrees Dragons Deal

Mon 12 May, 09:09 AM

Dual-code Australia international Wendell Sailor will return to rugby league after agreeing a deal with St George Illawarra Dragons.

The 33-year-old winger is now free to play again after serving a two-year ban for taking cocaine.

Sailor, who has signed until the end of the 2009 NRL season, is expected to turn out for Dragons' feeder club Shellharbour this weekend.

"I'm very excited about joining the Dragons and am grateful to them for giving me the opportunity," said Sailor.

"I don't believe that my sporting career is finished and I have had a long time to reflect upon it, having been outside of the sporting arena since May 2006.

"I believe that I can still compete at a high level and it is comforting to know that I now have a real opportunity to do so."

The former Brisbane Broncos star achieved success at every level in the 13-man game before switching to rugby union in 2002. He went on to make 37 appearances for the Wallabies.
