McCarthy: Wolves aces not for sale

Mon 12 May, 01:30 PM

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has dismissed all speculation linking his star players with moves away from Molineux this summer.Rumours have been rife in recent weeks that the likes of Wayne Hennessey, Michael Kightly and Matt Jarvis are set for moves to the Premier League, but the former Sunderland chief has moved quickly to end any suggestions of a summer exodus.

Having missed out on the Championship play-offs the Midlands club once again failed in their quest for top-flight football next season but McCarthy feels they need to keep the current crop of players together to progress next term.

"We want to get into the Premier League and the only way to do that is by keeping our best players," said McCarthy

"People will be looking at them and thinking they might want to take them off us but I personally feel and I have had a discussion with them that their development is best here.

"They need another 12 months in this league, then if we are still sat here and we haven't made it then the likes of Kightly, Jarvis and Hennessey might have a different view on it."
