Posh defender Adam Newton believes the club, who have been promoted to League One, can reach the Championship within the next two years.After automatic promotion from League Two, Newton is sure that this is not only the best Peterborough side he has been apart of, but is also capable of further glory.

The 27-year-old, told the club's website: "This season has brought so many positives and in terms of ability, this is the best team I have played in at Peterborough by far.

"I know this team can keep improving and progressing and as long as nobody gets to comfortable, I can see the team making the Championship within two years and that would be a remarkable achievement."

Newton added that on a personal point he will be aiming to secure a regular spot in Darren Ferguson's side next season.

He said: "For me personally, I want to secure a regular starting place as I expect competition to be stronger next year."
