Shrewsbury midfielder Ben Davies wants to put the disappointment of this season behind him and focus on gaining success in 2008/09.Despite a promising start to the season, in which the club won their opening three fixtures, Shrews could only manage a lowly 18th place in League Two after securing just two wins in their last 24 games.
But Davies is determined to look forward and not dwell on the past as boss Paul Simpson prepares for his first full term in charge.
"It was a massively disappointing season really considering the new ground and all the optimism that went with it. To finish the campaign the way we did and finish where we did in the league is poor really," Davies told the club's official website.
"Pre-season will be hard, he (Simpson) wants us to come back the same body weight and with the same body fat percentage, so he's going to be on our case, but that's what we need really.
"He will obviously bring in new players to strengthen the squad and it will be healthy competition for places, so it's all to look forward to. There's going to be a bit of change, there's always change in football, you have to deal with it."
