Pillipp Lahm will stay with Bayern Munich until at least 2009 according to the Bundesliga giants' chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

The Germany international is currently negotiating a new deal with Bayern but should talks break down, Rummenigge has already ruled out the possibility of the full-back leaving the Allianz Arena before his contract expires at the end of next season.

"It is certain he will remain here until the end of his contract with us, even if it should not be extended," said Rummenigge.

Contract talks with Bayern have been accelerated by reported interest from Barcelona, and Rummenigge now wants a deal done by the end of next week at this latest.

"We have held productive, open and fair talks," Rummenigge continued. "He would be well advised to go further with us.

"We are very happy and contented with him. We do know what he means to us and he knows as well what we mean to him."

Lahm was one of the stars of the 2006 World Cup, when Germany progressed to the semi-finals under Juergen Klinsmann, who is set to take over the managerial reins at Bayern at the end of the current campaign.
