New Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias insists speculation owner Mike Ashley is looking to sell the club is "utter nonsense".Reports last week claimed American investors InterMedia Partners had been approached about a possible takeover of the club.
Ashley bought Newcastle for £134.4million last summer and has since invested £100million in paying off debts and strengthening the squad.
Llambias, promoted from his role as deputy chairman following the departure of Chris Mort last month, insists the current regime is committed to the club.
"At a time when everyone at Newcastle United is working hard to prepare for the new season ahead, it is annoying that we have to continually correct inaccurate newspaper stories," he told the club's official website.
"Whoever is putting these stories around is clearly trying to destabilise the club and you wonder what their motives are for doing this.
"By putting a new management structure in place this year, by investing in new signings at first team and academy level, and by introducing cheaper tickets for our younger fans, the long-term commitment and vision for Newcastle United is there for all to see.
"Those actions speak louder than any words and I'm sure supporters see these stories for what they are - utter nonsense."

Footy mad should get his head out of his arse and get in touch with reality. I was born a Geordie almost 50 years ago and my birth rite is to support NUFC. I have seen more downs than ups and it would be a big upset if we were to be relegated. I suppose, however, that is possibly not an issue with the likes of Hull and Stoke now gracing the premiership. KK was spot on at the end of last season when he stated that the premiership is a league split in 2. We will be fortunate to achieve mid table mediocrity again next season. Still as long as we can beat Sunderland on a regular basis and get points from Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool I will be a happy Geordie.
what u on about allan the day newcastle get relegated will be the day i die they to good for that thay might go through bad patches but never that bad.Forget about Barton what about Martins thats the main concern?????????
What do Inter Media Partners have to gain or lose from stating that they had been approached over the sale of the club? Who cares anyway? The success of the club lies partly in the boardroom but more so on the pitch. I don't know about anyone else but I get really ticked off by constant reference to a clubs material worth. The club is only as good as the 11 guys that front up on a Saturday afternoon. Whilst I agree with what Mike Ashley is attenmpting to achieve at St James's Park, financial stability may come with the price tag of relegation.
also we have a guy called Jonas who may or may not be ours, and what of Barton,is it bye bye or what, talk about running a club, they could not run a brothel,
what new signings
