Teen footballer provides own transfer scoop on internet

LONDON (Reuters) - Reporters did not have to dig very deep to find out that English Premier League club Fulham were keen on luring a talented teenager away from London rivals Crystal Palace.

They had only to click on to the player's own page on the Facebook social networking Web site to read details of his proposed move.

Ashley Paul Robinson, an 18-year-old who broke into the first team at Championship club Palace last season, gave the traditional transfer story scoop a thoroughly modern dimension when he announced on Saturday that he would be having a trial with Fulham on Monday.

"Ashley-Paul is goin fulham on monday," the young midfielder was quoted as saying by the Guardian newspaper. "If i pull dis off im on dis ting."

Palace, understandably, were not amused. Neil Warnock, the manager who gave Robinson his league debut in March, was quoted by the Guardian as saying: "We feel it's probably better that he looks elsewhere to further his career."

  1. Ashley Paul Robinson? Since when has football got in the way of ego?
Street language is soooo uncool, like, man, you get me? What a load of drivel. They want to reap rewards before they work for them.Needs knocking down a peg & well done to Warnock for his reaction.
