Davidson deal delights Irvine

Thu 08 May, 02:15 PM

Preston boss Alan Irvine believes Callum Davidson would have been very difficult to replace had he not opted to commit his future to the club. The 31-year-old Scot had already seen his deal extended to the end of the 2008/2009 season, but has penned a new contract keeping him at Deepdale until 2011.

Irvine said: "We've retained his services as we wanted, and without any question, we would have to pay a lot of money to get someone else in of his experience, quality and character.

"I think he sees that we're trying to do things in the right way and there could maybe be some exciting times to come here."
