Werder Bremen won 1-0 at Hamburg SV despite finishing with nine men to clinch a top-three finish and at least a place in the Champions League qualifiers.

Werder took the lead through a Hugo Almeida blast early in the second half.

Frank Baumann was sent off soon after and Jurica Vranjes followed him down the tunnel late in the game but Thomas

Schaaf's side held on for a win that takes them back up to second place and ends Hamburg's Champions League hopes.

The runners-up spot in Germany gives direct entry to the Champions League group stage while third is enough for a place in the final qualifying round and Schalke 04 will contest Bremen for second place.

Bayern Munich, who wrapped up the title on Sunday, celebrated in front of their fans with a 2-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld with goals from Franck Ribery and Lukas Podolski.

Ribery put his side ahead with a first-half strike while Podolski, replacing broken-nose victim Miroslav Klose, scored early in the second half.

After another clean sheet, Bayern are now just two games away from the record for the lowest number of goals conceded in a Bundesliga season.

Their defence has leaked just 18 goals this season, the current record is 22, and they have a ten-point lead at the top of the table.

VfL Wolfsburg kept their dream of a UEFA Cup berth alive with a 3-2 win against Eintracht Frankfurt.

But Bayer Leverkusen's dreams of another season in the UEFA Cup took a hammering when guests Hertha Berlin beat them 2-1.

While Nuremberg took a big step towards avoiding relegation when they conjured a 2-0 win over fellow bottom three side Duisburg.
