Preston midfielder Darren Carter believes he and his team-mates have returned to pre-season training fitter than ever.The former West Brom player is taking part in his first pre-season campaign with the Lilywhites after joining from the Baggies last August.

The squad are currently on a training camp in Austria and are due to play two friendlies next week.

Carter told the club's official website: "Everyone has come back in good shape and everyone is going to be scrapping to get a place in the team.

"We have got some good pre-season games so it is all there for us - I think we are going to be super fit by the time the season starts."
