Chelsea End Arshavin Interest

Sat 05 Jul, 04:09 PM

Chelsea have ended their interest in Andrei Arshavin, according to the Russia playmaker's agent Dennis Lachter.

Roman Abramovich was thought to be keen to bring the Zenit St Petersburg star to Stamford Bridge after some impressive performances in the UEFA Cup and Euro 2008.

However Lachter believes this is no longer the case.

"I don't believe that after this acquisition of Deco the club have retained their interest in Arshavin," said Lachter told Russian paper Sovetsky Sport.

"Zenit want to get at least 30million euros (£23.8million), and foreign clubs offer no more than 20million euros (£15.8million).

"The situation is not at an impasse though. The transfer period only ends on August 31 and clubs are only just beginning to be proactive in the transfer market."

Lachter went on to claim Arshavin's next move could hinge on assorted other transfer sagas progressing across Europe.

"Several potential buyers are involved as clubs sell their players," he added. "Arshavin's future may be dependent on conversations about [Alexander] Hleb, [Emmanuel] Adebayor, Cristiano Ronaldo and others."

  2. but i do not believe chalsea needs any transfer...the plyers are beginning to understand themselves putting to their previous seasons...if i was the manager i believe keeping this team together and training them to hav more goals than the last season would really go a long way....Scolari, u r a good coach who has won so many titles with different countries including the South American Giants Brazil...u could keep this players together and make better use of them than ur pre-decessor

  6. in my opinion every great team needs a pacey dribbler that's extremely dangerous. Players that fall into that category include walcot, van persie, c ronaldo, robben, etc etc.

Chelsea can do with one of those kinda players. Arshavin is one of them.

  8. For the love of god! Do we need another playmaker/ second striker! We should be selling players like Pizzaman, ferrari, bell(eti), ben ham, and Sid(isn't that)well; not buying more quality players. Even if he is good both Chelsea and him won't gain anything, as we already have too many quality players!!

  9. Please let Zenith go to HELL with that rediculous tag on AA.
For crying out loud,i taught that Chelsea & its management wanted to go for top quality player after the appointment of Scolari. Please lets have a rethink because the season is alredy here & we are still gambling. This is really not the time for all these hide & seek games.
    Wake up Chelsea!!!!!!!!!!
