1657: In the final two matches of the afternoon in the Premier League Chelsea have kept alive their title challenge by winning 2-0 at Manchester City and Wigan have defeated 10-man Birmingham 2-0.

1656: In the Premier League Newcastle have beaten Reading 3-0, Bolton have been thrashed 4-0 at Aston Villa, Sunderland have defeated Fulham 3-1 and Blackburn have drawn 1-1 with Tottenham.

1655: Bournemouth now lead at Swansea! Je Kuffour's strike gives them the advantage at the League One leaders.

1654: 10-man Motherwell have beaten Celtic 1-0 at Parkhead. Rangers are now in control of the SPL title race.

1653: QPR have snatched another goal at the end of their match against Preston and that game is level at 2-2. Bournemouth equalise at League One leaders Swansea.

1652: Ched Evans fires home from a tight angle to double Norwich's lead at home to Burnley. In League Two Kevin Ellison scores from the penalty spot to draw Chester level at Hereford.

1651: Ross County have beaten Berwick 4-0 and they have been crowned champions of the Scottish second division.

1650: Gareth Ainsworth's effort from 25 yards finds the back of the net to halve Preston's lead against QPR in the Championship.

1646: Bury regain the lead against Notts County as the Magpies continue to find trouble at the bottom of League Two. Wrexham have pulled level at home to Macclesfield.

1645: Gareth Barry's free-kick is headed home by Marlon Harewood as Astron Villa go 4-0 ahead against Bolton. Gary Megson's side are moving ever closer to the Championship.

1644: Jason Euell fires home from three yards to double Southampton's lead at home to Bristol City. That is a massive scoreline at both ends of the Championship.

1643: Liam Hatch's goal has give Peterborough the lead at Wycombe as Darren Ferguson's side look to pull clear at the top of League Two.

1642: 10-man Doncaster have pulled level at Huddersfield thanks to Paul Green's strike. If they claim a point Swansea will have to wait another week to reach the Championship.

1641: Leroy Lita's second goal of the afternoon gives 10-man Charlton a 2-1 lead t Plymouth. The Addicks had goalkeeper Nicku Weaver sent-off right at the start of the match.

1640: Craig Barr pulls a goal back for crisis club Gretna against Inverness at Fir Park in the SPL.

1639: Tommy Smith's strike puts Watford ahead against Coventry as the Hornets look to close the gap on Championship leaders Bristol City.

1501: This afternoon's matches are now starting to get under way in a busy day of football in both England and Scotland.

1458: An ankle injury keeps England goalkeeper Paul Robinson out as Tottenham travel to Blackburn in the Premier League today.

Robinson has had to fight hard for his place since the arrival of new manager Juande Ramos earlier in the season and he is unable to take part at Ewood Park after problems in training this week.

Radek Cerny takes his place in goal while Jermaine Jenas returns after illness and there is also a place for defender Pascal Chimbonda.

Blackburn, still chasing a European place, hand a debut to former Switzerland captain Johann Vogel in midfield.

Christopher Samba is back in defence after suspension with Brett Emerton, after recovering from injury, among the substitutes.

1456: Gretna start their Clydesdale Bank Premier League game without a substitute goalkeeper after their administrators failed to secure a postponement of the game.

With Artur Krysiak at a Poland training camp, Gretna start with seven young outfield players on the bench.

Only a last-gasp financial deal with the SPL had secured the Fir Park fixture, which looked set to beat Gretna's record low top-flight attendance of501.

Both sides make three changes with Rostyn Griffiths, Craig Barr and John-Paul Kissock coming in for relegated Gretna.

Inverness bring in Barry Wilson, Dennis Wyness and Markus Paatelainen.

1454: Hibernian go into their match with St Mirren knowing a victory could take them third with their rivals for a UEFA Cup spot, Motherwell and Dundee United, both facing the Old Firm this weekend.

However, manager Mixu Paatelainen is forced into a reshuffle because of the two-match suspension picked up by influential skipper Rob Jones.

The Easter Road boss drafts in fit-again top scorer Steven Fletcher and full-backs Abderaouf Zarabi and Thierry Gathuessi from the side that lost 1-0 to Motherwell last weekend.

1439: Massimo Donati returns to the Celtic midfield at the expense of Paul Hartley for the Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Motherwell at Parkhead.

Top scorer Scott McDonald, also left out of last week's 1-0 defeat by Rangers at Ibrox, comes back in for Georgios Samaras, who starts on the bench.

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee had to contend with the loss of suspended striker David Clarkson, who is replaced by former Rangers hitman Ross McCormack.

1435: Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan hands David Edgar the first start of the manager's second reign at the club as he drafts the defender in as a late replacement for Steven Taylor.

Martin Taylor returns to the Birmingham line-up for the first time since his horror tackle on Eduardo.

The centre-back, who had not featured since breaking the Arsenal striker's leg on February 23, replaces the suspended Franck Queudrue in the only change to Alex McLeish's starting XI.

Wigan also make only one alteration for a match that would keep the winners on course for survival, Wilson Palacios playing against the side with whom he began this season.

1408: All over at Wembley and Portsmouth are through to the FA Cup final after beating West Brom 1-0 thanks to Kanu's goal. Cardiff or Barnsley will be their opponents - they play in the second semi-final tomorrow.

1400: Arsenal are level against Liverpool in the Premier League - and it's Nicklas Bendtner with the goal nine minutes after the resumption.
