Kyle Busch edged out Carl Edwards to win the Coke Zero 400 Nascar race at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida.
A race-ending, multi-car crash on the final lap brought out the yellow caution flag and as fireworks exploded on the back straight, many fans headed for the exits thinking Edwards had won.
But wanting to assure 100 percent accuracy, NASCAR officials went back to their computerized scoring loop system to find out that Busch actually held the lead by a little more than a bumper when the caution came out.
The review handed Busch his sixth win of the season and his first triumph at Daytona.
He said: "We didn't have the best car tonight, but we never gave up. Luckily we got up to the front when it mattered most."
