Ousmane Dabo has described Joey Barton as a "coward" and criticised Newcastle for lacking "ethics and morals".
Barton was handed a four-month suspended jail sentence on Monday for attacking Frenchman Dabo when they were team-mates at Manchester City.
The 31-year-old said: "I almost lost an eye. It was a terrible day and although I was not traumatised, I wanted the trial to come round.
"There was no confrontation, as Barton pleaded guilty straight away, and I did not need to give evidence. That says a lot about me - it shows that my version of the truth is the truth. I am happy with the outcome.
"He admits he behaved in a cowardly way, and he is a coward. We met one another on Monday. He was in one corner and me in another. He did not talk to me or apologise, but it did not trouble me to see him again."
Barton is currently serving a six-month prison term for a separate assault last year, and Dabo hit out at the midfielder's club, Newcastle, for not sacking him.
The Magpies are due to hold talks with Barton next week, and Dabo - who is now playing in Italy with Lazio -said: "English clubs teach you lots of lessons, but in this case they truly lack ethics and morals.
"Newcastle have invested a lot in this guy and they do not want to lose a lot of money. The club does not care a damn about the law and it shocks me."

a few months sentences only????? he is always trying to ruin someones career and life by damaging their vision~ for those who support him, maybe you will think differently if he puts a lighted cigar in your eyes~ what right does he have to do that???
just sack him, he doesn't deserve to wear the jersey of any club in the world.
Bring him on. I'd like to see the jumped up mallett head have a go at me. What does he think he is like having a go at kids. He reckons he's a big hard man. I would tear him a new ar*ehole. What nob thinks it's right to stub a cigar out on someones eye. His whole famaily are a bunch of F ucktards. Send him and his family to iraq or afganistan and see how hard they are then with bullet's and bomb's going off around them when their are decent men and women losing their lives to protect what we believe in getting killed for an avoidable cause. Bury this GOBS HITE in the depth's of some dark and damp cell tied to a wall and lets stub cigars out in his eye's and punch him repeatedly and see how he likes it when he begging for his lame drive through mcdonalds
this just show that the guy is a savage.he needs a proper anger management training or rehab.lets take the code seriously guys.lets set a precedence for younger guys....punish barton.
ref post number 17.....GIVE HIM A CHANCE??? how many more do u wanna give him?? he's already in prison for somethin else FFS, he's had plenty, just read through his list of assualts and stubbin cigars out in lads faces etc, and u said about cantona.....didnt he not get banned then for so many months for his assault?? did Rio not get a ban for MISSING drugs test, not FAILING one...MISSING!!!, yet Barton carries on and on, forget the football side of things, it should just be a normal human society kind of thing, if he wasnt a footballer but instead was a young kid on workin as a labourer from a council estate and did all these assaults, would he only get a 6month sentence and then a suspended one and still be carryin on working and have the cheek to baulk at the prospect of his employers sayin they will only pay him 50% of wages whilst inside. Thing is now, he's become a target for any wind up merchant or head case wantin a pop at him, hopefully barton wont be able to resist and either get a good kicking or thrown back where he belongs for a lot longer. And as another post said.....newcastle fans, boo him etc, dont stand for it and carry it on in the streets, shops wherever he is...do you want a thug like that walkin round your proud town thinkin he's above the law and anyone else just hope your club aint daft enough to pay him to try and rehabilitate him.......YOU will be the ones footing the costs
Barton has had more than one chance.Have you forgotten when he stubbed a lighted cigarette butt into the eye of a 16year old academy player ! Dabo is right and for Newcastle just to be concerned about their 'investment' and not about their standing in the community does show a lack of ethics and morals.

Eric Cantona was not a persistent offender unlike Joey Barton. Barton has been in several high profile '@#$%-ups' and therefore a liability- He obvviously can't learn from his mistakes. He has abused his position and doesn't deserve the trappings of wealth on offer to him thorugh the game and therefore should be banned from football. He has been sacked before and managed to get himself a place with a much larger club despite his past- how the @#$% does that work?!!
he has been given too many chance.yet is he grab that chance?isnt he the one that critisise england national player about the passion of the game?i wonder y he never critisise himself.
Barton has disgraced football and himself. To say he deserves another chance is just laughable. He was almost sacked by Man City when he decided to stub out a cigar in a teammates eye (I believe that was around the time that his brother was involved in that racially motivated murder – hence the leniency); and it took another vicious and, by all accounts, unprovoked attack on another teammate to finally get him out of the club. Newcastle gambled £5 when they signed him, that gamble has backfired spectacularly and he should now face the ultimate punishment by losing his livelihood.
I’ve heard that Bolton are interested in signing him, which is just as bad as Newcastle not sacking him in my eyes. He has had chance after chance and has always returned to his violent ways. Whilst the FA can’t ban him; British clubs should have a gentleman’s agreement not to offer him employment indefinitely, if only to preserve the last shred of dignity in this country’s football morals.
Cantona was not a recidiviste and got banned from all football. Ban the thug, keep him in jail with his cousin. oh and stop paying his wages, because when you're in jail aren't you suppose to lose your civil rights??
He attacked his team mate whilst he was at Man City and was sacked for it. The player who he attached is soft for allowing Barton to beat him up like that.Newcastle should only deal with the crimes that that wally Barton commits whilst he's there. I think they should also sack him as he will offend again, he can't help himself. If he layed a hand on me, that would be a different story because he would only get one hit in and then he wouldn't be able to play football again. One day he will meet his match and someone will kick the s*%t out of him.
"Give him one more chance"...that's what has been touted as the answer for the last 3 episodes the bloke has been involved in.
Kick him out of football..and let him make his own way in life (once the enormous bank balance has been spent)..would you employ him??
It is a shame that human relational standards are measured according to how much money you can generate and that is true for football as well the the other areas of our lives. I live in Newcastle but do not support them as I support my foreign home town. Allow me to say, you fans can do a lot when he is back on the ground: booo him, let him know and the club how much bigger your standards as geordie supporters are than the club itself is until he ends up out of the game altogether. One question to you, though: can you still mantain your standards regardless of how many goals he scores or everything will be forgotten if he nets 30 goals?
Dabo is a coward, he is critising Newcastle, who are innocent
Barton would appear to be scum, a violent thug with none of the excuses of poverty, or unemployment that could mitigate some of his actions, however his right to play football cannot be taken away from him by any governing body, it really is down to the moral fibre of his employers.
In the real world anybody in a similar situation would have been summarily dismissed, with no compensation, from their post and it is to the detriment of Newcastle United that they haven't done that so far.
If and when he is fired it is then down to the rest of the clubs to decide whether he has served his time and deserves a second chance or to leave him on the scrap heap.
Personally I would love to see him unemployable and destitute but there are 2 chances that that will happen, as we all know football has the moral code of the gutter.
Barton needs a good beating and thrashing, see how tough he is then, bet he didnt like jail either,it would have cost him to keep the wolves at bay, they should have buggered him.
In all other jobs attacking someone at the work place is gross misconduct and is punishable by getting sacked, although the court has punished him Newcastle could punish him by ensuring on any days off he should spend it working with underpriviledged kids, that way he may learn some respect and earn some. At the moment he is acting like thug, pretending to be a special player, which he aint.
I'm sure Keegan will get this sorted, he's a straight manager and was a respected player. Keegan needs players like Barton but not the thug that Barton obviously is.Is he worth one more chance? That's the decision for Keegan and his Staff to sort.
Barton is a total idiot. He should be banned from playing the beautiful game. Digusting arrogant empty headed fool. By the way one of his relatives killed someone and he is in jail as well.HHHHHHHHmmmmm that says a lot about his past.
From Job9669
The Barton story is similar to that of Lee Bowyer. They are both aggressive football thugs still in the game. I feel that with Barton its just 1 mistake too many. I agree sack him but a ban sounds a bit extream. He is going to serve his punishment in prison. if there is a repeat...then action should be taken
