Pilgrims fans go tangerine

Thu 03 Apr, 12:15 PM

Plymouth Argyle will be reverting to a tangerine and green Puma away kit for 2008-09 after fans voted for a change of colours.Around a third of all supporters who replied online or by mail chose the colours Argyle last wore away from home in 2004, when they won the old Second Division title.

The 'TangerGreen', as it was affectionately dubbed, had been introduced by Paul Sturrock in his first stint as Pilgrims manager and it proved a lucky, as well as popular, choice.

Argyle were wearing it at Rochdale, when they clinched promotion in 2002, and again when they won the Third Division title at Darlington a few weeks later.

It was the preferred choice of 32% of voters, with white, which replaced the TangerGreen for the 2004-05 season just behind in the poll, with 30%.

Yellow, the current season's away colours, was popular with 18% of voters, with black a distant fourth on 9%.
