Motherwell midfielder Keith Lasley has admitted his delight after signing a new two-year deal with the club to keep him at Fir Park until 2010.The 28-year-old has been a key man for Mark McGhee's side this season and will now extend his second spell in Lanarkshire until the end of the 2009/10 campaign.

Lasley left Motherwell in 2004 and had playing spells with Plymouth Argyle and Blackpool, who he joined on loan from the Pilgrims, before returning to Fir Park in 2006.

Motherwell stand fourth in the SPL, level on points and with two games in hand on third-placed Dundee United, after making remarkable progress under McGhee.

Third place would take Motherwell into the UEFA Cup.

Lasley told Well's official website: "I am just delighted to have got things sorted out.

"Motherwell have been so important in my career and I love the club and the place.

"There were one or two wee things to sort out before I could get it signed off but I am glad to say that it's been ironed out.

"This season has been brilliant for me - to play such a big role in a team doing so well.

"We've got a real chance of achieving something big this term and I want to be here to not only achieving that, but to reap the rewards afterwards."
