Reading goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann has set his sights on a long-term stay at the Madejski Stadium after clearing up confusion over his future.The American stopper is bemused by reports he was still waiting to sign a new deal with the Royals as he was awarded a new 12-month deal in January due to a clause in his contract.

Hahnemann was automatically granted a new contract until 2009 after he reached 20 Premier League games this season.

Hahnemann admits he is surprised by continual reports over his contract situation and says he is keen to prolong his stay even further at Reading.

"I don't know why these stories about my contract keep coming up as it was all sorted out a couple of months ago," he said.

"There was an option in my contract if I played 20 games I would be automatically be given another 12 months and that is what happened.

"I am here until 2009 and I am happy at the club.

"My goal is to stay here and I see my future in the long-term at Reading."
