De Canio: Glamour tag tough for Rs

Thu 03 Apr, 01:30 PM

QPR boss Luigi De Canio believes the new tag of Championship glamour side makes the job of winning all games the more difficult. The Italian took over at Loftus Road from John Gregory in October, and has been boosted by the considerable funds of co-owners Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore and investor Lakshmi Mittal.

But despite the glamorous image of the west Londoners - who have been watched by Naomi Campbell and African royalty among others this season, De Canio insists he and his players work just as hard on the training ground as any other club.

"Here we work, we sweat and we suffer," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"One thing is the marketing, but inside the changing room nothing changes wether there are models on the stands or the King of Ghana, as was the case.

"The fact is that everyone wants to beat us, as was the case with Juventus last season in Serie B."
