South Africa faced a further worry over their slim prop resources on Tuesday after tighthead CJ van der Linde limped out of training for Sunday's World Cup quarter-final against Fiji.
Van der Linde (pictured) injured his right knee in a mauling session and was unable to complete the session.
First choice tighthead BJ Botha was forced out of the tournament on Sunday when he sustained a knee injury against the United States in Montpellier.
Coach Jake White told reporters Botha's replacement, Jannie du Plessis, was expected to arrive on Wednesday.
"CJ will go for a scan but the doctor is quite positive that he will be okay," said White. "We have just lost a tighthead in BJ so we are not going to take too many chances.
"The fact that he said he was sore meant that we weren't going to push him through the training session. Once we've had the results of the scan the doc will make a call."
The Springboks face Fiji at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille on Sunday afternoon.
