Premier League - Isaksson agrees PSV switch

Eurosport - Wed, 02 Jul 16:20:00 2008

Manchester City goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson has signed a four-year contract with Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven.

The 26-year-old Swedish international moved for an undisclosed transfer fee and will succeed Heurelho Gomes, who agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week.

Isaksson joined City from French side Rennes in 2006, but found first-team opportunities limited following the emergence last season of recent England debutant Joe Hart.

He expressed a desire to join Galatasaray on loan during the January transfer window, but a move failed to materialise.

Isaksson was Sweden's first-choice goalkeeper at Euro 2008, playing in all three group games prior to their elimination at the hands of Russia.

  1. I agree with the comments about Isaksson being better than Hart and cant believe they let him go and PSV have a bargain.I also reckon Kasper Schmeichel(prob spelt wrong lol!) was unlucky to lose his place to Hart, but Hart is good as well though in my opinion is lucky to have got his chance but fair play he did well when he came in.

  3. Mistake if you ask me, this guy was Juventus no 1 at 1 point. A far better keeper than Joe Hart and he's only 26.

  4. Should be interesting to see if Hart stays or flounders. PSV should be in a good spot with Isaksson. Bra spel!
