... the future's yellow, or so it would seem with Norwich City set to become the latest Championship club to have a pop at buying their way to the top flight.
Expect a flurry of transfer activity from the East Anglians, with loaded fan Peter Cullum looking to clear the club's debt and create a whopping £20 million transfer kitty to bring the glory days of the early 1990's back to Carrow Road.
OK, so it's dependent on the proposed takeover coming to fruition, but boss Glenn Roeder (pictured) could have a pop at soon-to-be-ex Wigan defender Titus Bramble, who he knows well from their ill-fated spells at Newcastle, while quick-footed and light-fingered Southampton outcast Nathan Dyer will be available, provided he doesn't join Joey Barton at Her Majesty's.
Wes Hoolahan has already joined the Canaries from Blackpool , who are moving quickly to replace the skilful winger, although there seems to be a bit of confusion about the legality of Simon Davey's attempts to keep winger Martin Devaney at Barnsley.
"We've made Barnsley an offer and it's up to them whether they accept it and whether we can agree personal terms, but we've done what we can do at this stage and that is put a bid in," the Seasiders' boss Simon Grayson said after Davey claimed he would have the final say on any transfer.
But it is understood that Devaney has a release clause of £150,000 and that Blackpool have matched it - either there is some mixed messaging going on or Grayson is courteous beyond necessity.
The Tangerines are also close to sealing a deal with Manchester City's veteran Scottish striker Paul Dickov.
The 35-year-old spent a successful loan spell at Blackpool during which he scored six goals in 11 games to help the club stay in the Championship.
"Paul is speaking to Simon Grayson and we're hopeful he will be pledge his future to Blackpool Football Club," club chairman Karl Oyston said.
Championship new-boys Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, are looking to the old and the new as they attempt to restore the club to former glories.
Ex-Manchester United, Newcastle, Blackburn, Manchester City, Fulham (twice!), Birmingham, Bristol City, Portsmouth and Sunderland (phew!) striker Andrew Cole is available on a free and Forest boss Colin Calderwood is keen to bring him back to the city of his birth.
Cole, 36, scored six goals in 13 games while loaned to Burnley last season and would be a good, short-term solution for Forest who are also set to sign injured 20-year-old Carlisle hit-man Joe Garner.
"He is a young player with potential, but he also has experience in League football. Hopefully we can bring him in," said Calderwood of Garner, who is out until Christmas with a knee injury.
"There has also been contact with Andy and we will try to follow up on that."
Swansea are trying to sign young Manchester United forward Febian Brandy on-loan for a second season.
The 19-year-old academy product played 19 games for the Swans from January 2008 until the Swans won promotion from League One, although his goal return of three should take into account the fact that he only started twice.
"We have to see what Manchester United think of Febian's situation," Swans boss Roberto Martinez admitted.
"It's important to find out what Sir Alex thinks of the way Febian developed during his stay with us. Hopefully, after that, we will be able to sort out another loan."

it's solely about transfers in the English Championship, Paul - that's why it's in the Championship section. look in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A sections for other news...
It's a boring article. What about transfers in Italy, Spain, England etc...
