Murray Eyes Khan Clash

Wed 02 Jul, 02:09 PM

John Murray has offered to be Amir Khan's next opponent on September 6.

Murray faces fellow Manchester boxer Lee Meager for the vacant British Lightweight Title at the Robin Park Arena in Wigan on Friday week and if claims that crown, then wants to meet Khan.

"I would love to fight Amir and it's the logical fight to happen," he said.

"We are both unbeaten and both from Lancashire. Hopefully I will be winning the British belt and then it will be a fight with two belts on the line. It could happen at the MEN Arena in Manchester in September.

"He's talking about fighting for the world title, but he's not even the best in Lancashire. It would be a massive fight for Greater Manchester and also for the whole country.

"I wasn't really impressed with him against Michael Gomez the other week. Gomez will probably tell you himself he is past his best but he still gave Amir lots of trouble. Khan should be taking care of people better than he has done."

"This fight with Lee is an excellent opportunity for me to move my career on, especially as it could lead to a fight with Amir."

  1. khan against manny, absolute no way. i would fear for his life as pacquaio would tear him to shreds, he is just a money making machine just like hamed was. hamed fought kevin kelly who was past his best and he floored him several times, barrera absolutely destroyed him.

  5. anybody who seen the pac-man at the weekend will see Amir Khan is nowhere near world-class yet. Willie Limond put him on his backside and he's not a massive puncher.

  6. dont be a fool mate john murray is a very good boxer and has had tougher opponents than khan, he has though in the US and is prepared to put his unbeaten record on the line, Khans sham unbeaten record against lighter shorter weaker opponents, two of which have nearly KO'd him and several have come up from lower divisions, earl was coming back off a career ending battering by katsidis and a washed up gomez from super fearther and almost KO'd khan, also khan dose not have KO power, he has speed in which he charges into opponents until the ref steps in, this is a good technique against smaller weaker men but it wont wash against better fighters, sure many want there pay day against khan cos he is big buisness but thats all he is.
