Sale's England flanker Magnus Lund is set to join top 14 side Biarritz on a two-year deal, a French newspaper has reported.

Midi Olympique newspaper has reported that the 24-year-old openside (pictured) is due to sign a contract with the Atlantic coast club in the next few days.

Guinness Premiership side Sale are unable to comment on Lund's dealings with Biarritz but have confirmed that the player is set to leave Edgeley Park at the end of the season.

Lund has 10 caps for England but failed to secure a regular place under former coach Brian Ashton and missed out on the World Cup.

Currently out with a shoulder injury, Lund hopes to be fit for Sale's crucial league clash at Harlequins on Sunday.

Sale are fifth in the standings with two games remaining and must win at The Stoop to keep alive their chances of a playoff place.

Biarritz are also fifth in the Top 14 and in contention for a spot in the semi-finals with five regular league matches to go.
