Baggies held, Owls edge clear

Tue 01 Apr, 11:00 PM

FA Cup semi-finalists Cardiff and West Brom drew 0-0 in the Championship on Tuesday, while Sheffield Wednesday clambered out of the drop zone. The Bluebirds and the Baggies appeared to have one eye on Wembley as they played out a stalemate at Ninian Park.

Steve Thompson and Gavin Rae had Cardiff's best chances while Ishmael Miller hit the woodwork for the visitors in what could yet prove to be a dress rehearsal for this year's FA Cup final.

It was a fair result on the balance of play, however the point will barely be welcomed by either side in their respective play-off and automatic promotion quests.

Albion, who needed a victory to move into the second automatic promotion sot, remain fourth in the table, while City, now unbeaten in seven, stay 12th.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday climbed out of the relegation zone on goal difference courtesy of a dramatic 1-1 draw at home to fellow strugglers Coventry.

Substitute Zavon Hines, on loan from West Ham, put Chris Coleman's Sky Blues ahead seven minutes from time at Hillsborough.

But Richard Wood headed home in injury time to snatch a point for the home side, which lifts them to 20th and drops Southampton into the bottom three.
